What the heck is JYRA? Well, at one time it stood for Junior Yacht Racing Association and has since been renamed Junior Sailing Association of Long Island Sound. We had a reunion of JYRA sailors in 2009, and we have been encouraged to do an encore performance. Over 125 showed up in ’09.

Another reunion is planned for Sept. 8, 2018 at 1800 hours at Larchmont Yacht Club. There will be Ideal 18 racing in the afternoon, followed by a picnic with open bar and free keg. Even better, everyone gets a free JYRA ball cap, complete with the old JYRA logo.

This reunion is open to anyone who sailed as a junior on Long Island Sound prior to 1980. The committee already has a list of 245 names. Check out the Facebook page – jyralis reunion. Post any photos you have and add to everyone’s enjoyment. If you want to be put on the mailing list, contact Bill Sandberg at William.L.Sandberg@gmail.com. Thanks, and please tell your readers.

Best regards, Bill Sandberg

Publishers note: Done, Bill. I’m going just for the hat!
