Offshore Sailing School founder and Colgate 26 sconcept designer Steve Colgate is pleased to announce that new Colgate 26 keelboats are being built by Waterline Systems. “We are delighted to work with Randy Borges’ Waterline Systems of North Kingstown, RI and Hubert, NC, to manufacture Colgate 26 sailboats,” said Colgate. “Waterline Systems is the perfect builder for Colgate 26s as they currently build the Alerion yacht line, and will provide that same high quality in producing the Colgate 26, known as The Boat For All Reasons because it is so versatile and safe in all wind and sea conditions.”

The Colgate 26 replaced Solings in Offshore Sailing School’s fleet in 1997, when it was named Cruising World magazine’s “Boat of the Year.” The Colgate 26 was originally manufactured by Precision BoatWorks in Palmetto, FL. Waterline Systems will now service Colgate 26 sailboats at either of its facilities. Colgate 26 owners may contact service@waterlinesystems.com or 401-247-3000.

The first three new Colgate 26 sailboats have been sold. In lieu of the canceled U.S. Sailboat Show in Annapolis, MD, now through October 31, new Colgate 26s are available at $10,000 savings, making the Colgate 26 just $44,950. Interested parties may contact Steve Colgate at 239-985-7505 or visit Colgate26.com.

Today, there are close to 400 Colgate 26s sailing and racing throughout the United States and other areas including Qatar, through a combination of private owners, other sailing schools, yacht club fleets, the U.S. Naval Academy, and several other service institutions. Offshore Sailing School currently owns seventeen Colgate 26s, used for sailing lessons, basic and intermediate courses, racing events, team building, and leadership development sailing programs.

Owned by sailor and boat builder Randy Borges, Waterline Systems LLC has focused on building and optimizing sailboats since the company’s inception in 1988. For more information, visit waterlinesystems.com. ■
