Hosted by Mystic Seaport Museum in partnership with WoodenBoat Publications, this three-day festival celebrates the design and craftsmanship of wooden craft, with something for all wooden boat enthusiasts and marine history buffs. Wooden boats of every type – large and small, old and new, power, sail, oar and paddle – will be on display, including cruising yachts, launches, runabouts, fishing boats, performance powerboats, daysailers, dinghies, rowboats, canoes, performance shells, multihulls and racing boats.
Learn new skills at demonstrations and workshops throughout the weekend. Shop exhibitors’ booths and find everything you need to outfit your boat. Vendors will offer items for sale including maritime art, antiques, tools, books, nautical gear, and more.

50th Annual Newport International Boat Show
September 16 – 19 in Newport, RI

Celebrating a half-century since the first one in 1970, the Newport International Boat Show is one of the largest and most prestigious boat shows in the country, spanning over thirteen acres of historic downtown Newport. Walk the docks and view a spectacular display of shiny new sailboats and powerboats.

In addition to the boats, products and services, there will be a host of programs to educate and entertain visitors, as well as special highlights to celebrate this Golden Anniversary. The ever-popular Confident Captain At The Helm in-water instruction and seminars hosted by cruising expert Pam Wall are scheduled for this year, as well as the highly anticipated Newport For New Products (NFNP) program.

Thursday, September 16 is Preview Day, for serious boaters who want to check out all that the show has to offer with less traffic on the docks and more time to chat with dealers and manufacturers.

Providing attendees with the exciting opportunity to view boats and products making their first-ever debut in the United States, NFNP entries are judged by a panel of experts. The awards are given for best new powerboat; sailboat; product – navigation; product – boating operation, maintenance and safety; wearable weather gear; and a People’s Choice Award. The program also includes a “Green” category for best “Green” boat and product based on the ecological benefits and features of the entry. Awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, September 17.

The charitable partners of this year’s Newport International Boat Show are the C. Thomas Clagett, Jr. Memorial Clinic and Regatta, and the Herreshoff Marine Museum and America’s Cup Hall of Fame.

The best place to park is at Easton’s Beach, located at 175 Memorial Blvd, Newport. Parking is $25 per vehicle and continuous shuttle service to and from the boat show site (approximately 1.6 miles) is available complimentary with the parking space. The parking lot and the shuttle service run daily.

24th Newport Brokerage Boat Show
September 16 – 19 at Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard, Newport, RI

Running concurrently with the Newport International Boat Show, the Newport Brokerage Boat Show is the largest in-water collection of quality brokerage yachts, both sail and power. With more than 100 boats from 40 to 185 feet on display this year, you are sure to find something of interest.

Admission to this show is complimentary, and Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard is offering a water shuttle to the Newport International Boat Show (admission to the NIBS not included).

Progressive Norwalk Boat Show
September 23 – 26 at Norwalk Cove Marina, Norwalk, CT

The Progressive Norwalk Boat Show features hundreds of new boats, presented by the area’s best dealers, plus every boating accessory and marine product you’ll need. In addition to boats and equipment, attendees can get tips on various topics from industry professionals at free seminars about averting from electronic navigation to fishing. If you want to visit this show by boat, you can anchor in Norwalk Harbor and can hail the water taxi on VHF 72 for a ride to the show docks.

The show’s best deals are on Super Thursday (September 23), with one-day only specials on a wide variety of boats and products, plus food and drink specials, and discounted show admission after 5:00 pm.

Head to the Progressive Boat School tent to attend seminars, learn practical skills, or chat with a caption and get one-on-one boating advice. You can also learn about how Progressive Insurance can do for your boat. BoatUS is offering powerboat instructional training, featuring three hours of on-water instruction with a U.S. Coast Guard-certified captain. In the Try It Cove, attendees can enjoy stand up paddleboard demos and kayak trials.

The Maine Marine Trades Association have partnered with Maine Outdoor Brands to present the Maine Boat + Outdoor Expo, a unique event featuring vendors, exhibits, and demonstrations to help new and seasoned boaters and outdoor enthusiasts gear up and get outdoors.
