I always like this time of year. It is a busy one for us for sure. The CT Spring Boat Show is at the end of the month. Folks start working on getting boats into the water. Down in Florida, baseball is done and moving north. By the time you read this, hopefully UConn will have repeated and maybe those Lady Huskies will have knocked off vaunted Iowa. (Have to mention that Yale was still alive at time of this writing.)
But the real joy of April is that there is enough of a weather tease in New England to get you seriously thinking about the best five months around these parts: May through September. So, start getting things done now! Wouldn’t it be great if you had knocked off enough springtime chores that you could come see us at Safe Harbor Essex Island that last weekend of April and enjoy bands, food, beverages and boats!
One ticket gets you in for all three days. Take a peek at the Exhibitors and Brokers previewed in this magazine, and check online for regular updates at ctspringboatshow.com. We are determined to crush last year’s fundraising total for Sails Up 4 Cancer, so come help us do it. Fifty percent of the net on the gate goes to them, and we create other opportunities to raise money like a cocktails & dinner dock party and closest to the pin games.
Someone in my house is all over this springtime chores concept. As I write this (in March) I am being told to get outside and dig holes, plant new plants, and (my personal favorite) move ones that I planted last year. Do I want to do it? No! Would I rather be watching basketball or golf on the couch? Yes! But at least I am getting it out of the way so the much more important varnishing, cleaning and polishing can be done in April! Maybe I will have earned enough points to do the IC Nationals mid-month at Larchmont. But let’s not count our chickens just yet. Time to get digging.
See you at the Show!
