Seminar #2 – The Human Side of the Bermuda Race

Thursday, February 27, 2020

7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at McMichael Yacht Yards & Brokers

447 East Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, NY 10543

Getting your boat, your sails, and all your gear ready for a 635-mile ocean race is where you start…but don’t overlook the human side of winning the Newport Bermuda Race. With the prospect of being at sea for more days than you’d like (there have been some slow races as you recall), you need to consider how to prepare your crew and keep them focused for the duration. During this seminar, you’ll hear from Bermuda Race veterans on crew-based subjects as diverse as:

• Physical training/conditioning pre-race

• Crew management

• Watch system alternatives

• Food planning and prep

• Medical “officer” planning

Perhaps the least glamorous of our three seminars, what you’ll learn about the human side of this race may make the difference between being on the podium or in the crowd.

Please RSVP at info@mcmyacht.com, indicating the number of sailors in your party.

Seminar #3 – Bermuda Race Navigation and Weather

Thursday, March 26, 2020

7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m at McMichael Yacht Yards & Brokers

447 East Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, NY 10543

Sailing your boat effectively and efficiently through the water is one key to winning the Newport Bermuda Race; taking the best route to get there is the other. Join two-time Bermuda Race winning navigator and McMichael Board Member HL DeVore as he shares his insights on race-winning navigational strategies and tactics plus providing an overview of key weather tips and resources. HL will also discuss the latest in navigational hardware and software to be considered as you prep your boat for the race.

Please RSVP at info@mcmyacht.com, indicating the number of sailors in your party.

If you have questions on these programs or any other Newport Bermuda Race questions, contact McMichael Race Compliance Advisors Meter MacKenzie at peterm@mcmyachtc.om or Matt Baldwin at service@mcmyacht.com.
