As many of you are aware, the sailing community experienced several tragic incidents on the water over the past several months that have impacted the broader boating community around the county and the entire marine industry.

Actor and local resident Ralph Macchio will again act as a community ambassador for the eighth annual Village Cup Regatta on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Presented by the Port Jefferson Yacht Club, the friendly competition between John T. Mather Memorial Hospital and the Village of Port Jefferson raises funds for Mather’s Palliative Medicine Program and The Lustgarten Foundation, which funds pancreatic cancer research.

The New England J/Fest organizing committee and Vanquish Boats are excited to announce that they will be sponsoring the second annual New England J/Fest Regatta. The regatta, hosted by Sail Newport at Fort Adams State Park, will take place August 11th-13th.

The Classic Yacht Owners Association (CYOA), was formed in 2015 to advance the common interests of classic yacht owners, to improve communication between them, and to foster increased participation in classic yachting events throughout New England and beyond.

A new outright record was set Friday, October 28 for the Mount Gay Rum Around Jamestown Record. Zach Marks of St. Petersburg, Florida, rode his foiling kiteboard around Jamestown with an elapsed time of 53 minutes and 37 seconds.

Next Saturday, July 30th, Centerport Yacht Club (Northport Harbor, NY) will be hosting SailAhead’s 2nd annual event “Let’s Take a Veteran Sailing”.
