Our friends at the Women’s Sailing Foundation (WSF) are offering the Sue Corl Youth Sailing Scholarship for young women ages 14 -19. “This scholarship is for applicants who have identified a program that may include but not be limited to an advanced sailing program, a tall ship or live-aboard experience, a marine or marine-related program, such as environmental studies as an example, or a sail racing program,” said WSF board member Linda Newland. “Scholarship funding is up to $500 and will be awarded to one of the applicants. WSF is committed to encouraging all eligible young women to apply.”

“The scholarship is named after Sue Corl, who was a tireless advocate for introducing sailing to young women,” Newland continued. “She was the national co-coordinator of our AdventureSail program for many years, having been an organizer of the first Boston AdventureSail program in 1997 at the Courageous Sailing Center in Boston Harbor. She also was a co-chair of the Inaugural Women’s Sailing Conference held at Marblehead, MA in 2001. She also served on the Board of Directors of the National Women’s Sailing Association.” For more information on eligibility criteria and to fill out the application form, visit womensailing.org/sue-corl-youth-sailing-scholarship/
