Our friends at Safe Harbor Marinas are presenting the inaugural Safe Harbor Race Weekend, a three-day sailing regatta in and around Narragansett Bay, on the weekend of August 13-15. With shoreside activities hosted by Safe Harbor Marinas in Newport, Portsmouth, and Jamestown, Rhode Island, this event is geared toward the enjoyment of boat owners, families, and crew.
“We hope you’ll join us this summer for some exciting racing, live entertainment, tasty food and plenty of laughs at the launch of Safe Harbor Race Weekend!” said John O’Connor, General Manager of Safe Harbor New England Boatworks. “We’re looking forward to kicking off the weekend’s social events on Friday night with a traditional Coastal New England Dinner and drinks on our newly expanded ‘Point’ that extends into the heart of Narragansett Bay, and provides a view that you will have to see to believe. This regatta has something for everyone, and we hope to see you here!”
Safe Harbor Race Weekend is open to all sailors, with monohull and multihull vessels 30 feet LOA or greater invited to participate. The goal of the organizers and local marina managers is to provide an event that delivers good sportsmanship, enjoyable competition, and sailing camaraderie over three fun-filled days with racing and exciting shoreside social events. Other social highlights include a celebratory Talk of the Town Saturday night Crew Party and dinner featuring live music at Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard in the heart of downtown Newport.
Gather your crew, mark your calendar for August 13 – 15, 2021, and prepare for three unforgettable days of racing and revelry. For more information and to register, visit shmarinas.com/safe-harbor-race-weekend/ ■
