Competitors in the Red Bull Foiling Generation USA Qualifier have lofty ambitions

Thirty-seven teams representing Bermuda, Canada, Great Britain and the USA are racing on Long Island Sound October 20-23, 2016 for the 2016 J105 North American Championship.

So if you have never done the race or would just like a refresher, take advantage of one of this year’s Marion Bermuda Race Presentations. You will hear information specific to the race and many of the activities surrounding it.

In becoming the first female skipper to win the Queen’s Cup, one of the New York Yacht Club’s most prestigious yachting trophies, Heidi Benjamin of South Norwalk, CT relied on her yacht, her crew and two distinct sources of inspiration.

Over 420 college sailors from the United States, Canada and France raced on 45 owner-coached keelboats over Columbus Day Weekend in the Storm Trysail Foundation’s Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta (IOR) sailed on western Long Island Sound.

Overall NCYC, DIYC, ECYC and PPM have surpassed the $550,000 mark in raising funds for LLS.

Below we’ll follow the 15 sailors who will represent the United States at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in August, and the six who will represent the United States at the Paralympic Games in September.

Among the 29 teams participating in the 2016 Resolute Cup are a number of smaller yacht clubs eager to make a name for themselves on a national stage.
