Coastal Ocean Weather, Currents, and Sea State: Passage Making

Presented by Dr. W. Frank Bohlen, this course is an introduction to the factors governing the weather, currents, and surface waves in coastal waters extending seaward from the bays and estuaries to the edge of the continental shelf. The Newport to Bermuda Race is divided into three parts: from Newport to the Gulf Steam, The Gulf Stream, from the Steam to Bermuda . This course will help you understand what is going on from Newport to the Stream as well as prepare you for the start of your passage to the Caribbean or even Transatlantic.

Course Includes a 45 minute segment on Medical Emergencies at Sea presented by Kim Zeh, MD. Medical Emergencies at Sea will discuss the many emergencies you may encounter, how to deal with them at sea, and how to properly prepare your Emergency Medical Kit.
