6th Annual Swim to Skim

August 25, 2019

Comprising a 1.2-mile swim from Perrotti Park to King Park in Newport, Rhode Island, this event celebrates the ongoing work by Clean Ocean Access to eliminate marine debris and improve coastal water quality on Aquidneck Island.

Event Details:

Registration

Online registration closes at 6:00PM on August 24, 2019

Day-of registration begins at 5:30AM and ends at 6:15AM on August 25, 2019

Check-in

Check-in begins promptly at 5:30AM and ends at 6:45AM on August 25, 2019

Warm-up

Participants can warm up in the waters of the starting line at Perrotti Park

Course Map

A large course map will be provided with directional areas for the swim event

Competition

The  1.2 mile-swim includes race categories based on gender and wet suit (including lava pants) and no wet suits. Awards are giving to the 1st and 2nd place finishes in each category

1.2 miles + Women’s + Wet suit
1.2 miles + Women’s + No Wet suit
1.2  miles + Men’s + Wet suit
1.2 miles + Men’s + No Wet suit


Parking:

Public parking is available at the Newport Visitor Center (23 America’s Cup Ave, Newport, RI 02840) and behind the shops at Long Wharf (39 Long Wharf Mall, Newport, RI02840).

Transportation and bag drop:

Transportation will be provided for viewers from Perrotti Park to King Park and for both swimmers and viewers from King Park to Perrotti Park. A bag drop will be available for swimmers at the start line and all of their belongings will be transported to the finish line.

Restrooms:

Restrooms will be available at the start and finish lines.

After Event:

A reception with light refreshments sponsored by Blount Fine Foods for swimmers, families, and all participants will take place at King Park after the swim.
