From last-place finishes to lifting the trophy, TUUCI completes the climb
Tuuci® Racing was crowned 2025 M32 North American Champion in Newport, RI on August 28, 2025.
After a year and a half of building, battling, and learning, CT Olander, Cy Thompson, Phil Robertson, John Wallace, and Charlie McHugh put it all together in Newport for an emotional, hard-earned title.
Throughout the championship weekend, the team had excellent starts, sailed clean, capitalized on shifts, and held off a stacked fleet across three days of championship racing. The regatta delivered 15 champagne races in glorious Newport conditions: sunshine, sea breeze, mostly heavy air with a few light air races, and moments with a bit of spice.

“Being on board when our team won the M32 North American Championship was unforgettable. The M32 is fast, technical, and relentlessly demanding—just like the engineering behind Tuuci shade structures. Born in a Miami boatyard, Tuuci’s roots in nautical rigging naturally connects us to technical racing. Crossing that finish line was pure joy. Cheers to the passion, precision, and the spirit that defines Tuuci!” — CT Olander, Tuuci Racing Team
“Tuuci is propelled by a passion to harness the wind. Whether it’s designing our award-winning, marine grade shade structures that endure the harshest wind environments, or racing cutting-edge sailboats across open water, our work is driven by respect for nature, precision engineering, and the thrill of performance. This championship is the reflection of our shared spirit of perseverance, innovation, and the joy of achieving excellence.” — Dougan Clarke, Founder & Chief Product Designer, Tuuci

TUUCI Racing’s partnership with The Ultimate Umbrella Company Incorporated (TUUCI) began before the pandemic. “TUUCI wanted to be part of a high-performance sailing team. They’re in the shade business, which it’s all about wind and the environment – so it just fits,” said C.T. Olander, Tuuci Racing Team. “They’ve given us a ton of support throughout the journey, and now we look forward to the World Championship in Miami.”
Sailing has always been in Tuuci’s DNA, but racing in the M32 class is an especially demanding test of performance and grit. Its lightweight design and large sail quickly bring it up to g-force knots when the wind hits the sail. Demands are high for both the crew, and the equipment.
