Great Races! Great Party! Great Cause! For over 30 years, the Mystic River Mudhead Sailing Association has raised funds and awareness for worthy charities. We are proud to partner with Sails Up 4 Cancer for the 2025 event.
The Mudhead Benefit Cup Regatta is a fund raiser for Sails Up 4 Cancer. Sails Up 4 Cancer’s mission statement really says it all. SU4C is a non-profit organization dedicated to funding education, prevention, care, and cure for all types of cancer through the art and enjoyment of sailing.
“Sails Up is excited to partner with the Mudhead community and raise much needed funds for cancer patients,” said Bob Davis, president and CEO of Sails up 4 Cancer. “It is more than a regatta and a shore party, this event raises awareness for those suffering hardship during cancer treatment. We are especially proud of our spinnaker fund. This Fund has been specifically tailored to individuals and families who are suffering financial hardship as a result of the loss of income due to their struggles with cancer. Sails Up realizes that the last thing a cancer patient needs is additional stress as a result of this predicament. There are not many places to turn for assistance and Sails Up is proud to help fill this void. Sails Up 4 Cancer is a small organization and can’t promise that it can solve all financial woes, but it will do whatever it can based on funds available and needs,” said Davis.
Come and join in the fun at the at Mystic Shipyard, 100 Essex Street, Mystic, on July 19, 2025 when the Mudheads host their annual MegaParty starting at 5 p.m. This party features great food, full bar, prize drawings and live music from CopyCopy. Whether by land or by sea, we hope you can join us.
“Our committee has been hard at work planning this special event. We have great silent auction items – including a trip to Bermuda – and all proceeds go to helping cancer patients,” said Courtney Moore, co-chair. “It is only with the help of attendees, sponsors and donors that we can make a difference. Join us at the beautiful Mystic Shipyard and help the cause,” Moore said.
