North America’s oldest annual regatta will feature three great days of racing including the separately scored Around-the-Island Race on Friday, 6/14. Competition will take place in ORC, PHRF and one-design classes, as well as for classic yachts and multihulls.

Organizers of the Sails Up 4 Cancer Regatta will hand out the Sailing Instructions, conducti a Q&A with the Race Committee, then it’s time to party! Festivities include a cornhole tournament presented by Coastal Connecticut Cornhole, live music by Wooly Mammoth, and eats from Dogwatch Mystic Barbecue.

Open to serious racers vying for ECSA points as well as weekend cruisers and family crews, this fun regatta supports a great cause. Racing begins in Fishers Island Sound in the vicinity of Seaflower Reef at 12pm. Registration is $50 per yacht and includes two tickets to the shore party at Mystic Shipyard. Presented by the Storm Trysail Club, this hands-on workshop includes presentations covering safety procedures, particularly man overboard recovery and big-boat organization & crew work, in-the-water demonstration of inflatable PFDs and the inflation of a six-man canopied life raft, and sail handling & man overboard drills, both upwind with jibs and downwind with spinnakers.
