New London, CT — Our friends at the New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS), and event organizer Neff Productions, are hosting a Kids & Family Fishing Tourney at City Pier on Saturday, September 26 from 11:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. This kids’ fishing event is catch-and-release and open to participants with all levels of experience. Parents and guardians are welcome to participate; however, supplied fishing poles will be reserved for participants under age 16. Masks are mandatory, there will be a health screening, and social distancing guidelines will be followed by all participants.

Fishing will be conducted from New London City Pier, and participants will be assisted by NESS SEA AmeriCorps members and New London first responders including members of the New London Police Department and New London Fire Department.   Fishing poles will be provided to participants under the age of 16, and all bait comes as a donation from A.W. Marina. All fish will be measured, photographed for proof, and released.

Free registration is available online at http://bit.ly/NESSNewLondonFishing2020. Equipment is limited, and interested participants are encouraged to sign up online in advance.   Parents and guardians and anglers ages 16+ must have a valid salt water fishing license from Connecticut or a reciprocal state. Prizes are reserved for participants under age 16 and will be given to the biggest fish, smallest fish, and most fish.   NESS would like to thank the generous support and partnership of Barbara Neff of Neff Productions, A.W. Marina, the New London Police Department, the New London Fire Department, and other community partners.
