Aloha! Our friends at the Connecticut Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation are stoked be the race host of the 5th Annual Charles Island SUP Cup, at beautiful Walnut Beach in Milford, Connecticut on Saturday, June 15 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

June 15 is International Surfing Day, so mark your calendar for an awesome day at the beach with stand-up paddleboard and kayak races. The 5-mile elite race will loop around Charles Island (where Captain William Kidd is rumored to have buried his treasure in 1699). Recreational paddlers will race a 2.25-mile “out & back,” while the kids will battle it out on the quarter mile course.

Races will start at 10:20 am (high tide is 10:31am).

REMINDER: ALL RACERS MUST HAVE A PFD, WHISTLE & LEASH.

Other activities include storytelling, beach yoga, SUP yoga, live surf music, free surf, SUP and kayak demos, food trucks, raffles, giveaways, environmental education, and more, with 100% of proceeds to charity.

The Charles Island SUP Cup is one of the coolest, most enjoyable events on the Connecticut coastline, featuring music by the region’s best surf bands. And with the recent passing of The King of the Surf Guitar, Dick Dale (1937-2019), we won’t be surprised to hear renditions of such classics as “Nitro,” “Misirlou,” or “Shredded Heat.” Be There. Aloha.
