Sail Black Rock Takes the Silver!

The New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association’s Freshman Championship – The Priddy Trophy – hosted by Sail Black Rock (SBR) at Captain’s Cove Seaport in Bridgeport, CT on April 22, 2017 has earned silver certification as a Clean Regatta from Sailors for the Sea.

‘Jambi’ takes Marion Bermuda Line Honors

Jambi’, a new Hinckley Bermuda 50 skippered by John Levinson crossed the finish line off St. David’s Lighthouse at 12:47:00 ADT to take line honors in the 40th Anniversary Marion Bermuda Race. ‘Jambi’ had an unofficial elapsed time of 4 days 23 hours 36 minutes 11 seconds. Based on her starting time of 12:55 EDT on June 9, that is 118 hours 52 minutes and 11 Seconds.

Cedar Point Yacht Club OneDesign Regatta

More than 400 sailors from throughout the United States and abroad competed in the 2017 OneDesign Regatta at Cedar Point Yacht Club on June 2-4. Six classes (Atlantic, J109, J105, J88, Beneteau First 36.7 and J70) and 67 boats raced throughout the weekend in two circle courses.

Since its inception in 1977, the Marion Bermuda Cruising Yacht Race (MBCYR) has been billed as “an ocean race for cruising yachts.” While that philosophy still prevails in the event’s current “mission” saying “competitive spirit and good fellowship of Corinthian sailing,” those who have done the race can tell you it is often very competitive, and battles for class trophies are hard-fought!
