Twenty-four sailors with adaptive needs gathered in Oyster Bay, NY for the third annual Clagett/Oakcliff Match Race Clinic and Regatta, which was hosted by Sagamore Yacht September 28 - 30, 2018. The WaterFront Center donated their Sonars for use in the event, and Warrior Sailing Program rigged them with the adaptive equipment.

Forty-six sailors from across North America competed in the 16th C. Thomas Clagett, Jr. Memorial Clinic & Regatta and the 2018 U.S. Para Sailing Championships, which were hosted by Sail Newport in Newport, RI June 20 - 24, 2018.

“We’ve just concluded the 16th Clagett Regatta and we couldn’t do it without the support of the volunteers, sponsors, supporters and especially the sailors,” said Clagett President and Co-Founder Judy Clagett McLennan (Portsmouth, RI). “We’re so thrilled that we’ve been able to join forces with US Sailing to host the U.S. Para Sailing Championships this year. Reaching for Success at the Clagett/Oakcliff Match Race

Twenty-seven competitors on 9 teams were served a mixed bag of conditions at the second annual Clagett/Oakcliff Match Race for sailors with adaptive needs, hosted by The WaterFront Center in Oyster Bay, NY August 25 - 27. Pauline Dowell (Boston, MA) and her crew of Christian Thaxton (Sommerville, MA) and Kay VanValkenburgh (Boston), who are returning racers at this event, clinched victory without a single loss on their scoreline. They even bested Rio Paralympic silver medalist Rick Doerr (Clifton, NJ), who made his debut in match racing at the Clagett/Oakcliff and earned a second place spot after a tiebreaker with Charles Rosenfield (Woodstock, CT).Read more
Eight teams will take part in the inaugural Clagett/Oakcliff Match Racing event for adaptive sailors
Hosted July 15-17, 2016 by the Waterfront Center in Oyster Bay, NY, the inaugural Clagett/Oakcliff Match Race event is open to both adaptive and able-bodied sailors from the US and international sailors. Racing rules specify that at least one person on the boat should identify as having a disability. On hand to provide coaching in boat handling, boat speed, and match racing will be five time and current US match racing champion Dave Perry (Pequot Yacht Club, CT).
