Rally on Monday, December 15, 2014 to Save North Cove Marina

North Cove MarinaNorth Cove Marina Management (NCMM), headed by Battery Park City resident Michael Fortenbaugh, has completely revived North Cove during the past ten years.

NCMM has not only docked mega yachts, but they developed programs for the public, sailing lessons, affordable charters, junior sailing programs and numerous international sailing events.

The Battery Park City Authority (BPCA), the State agency that owns North Cove Marina, has asked NCMM to vacate the marina by the end of this month.

Press reports speculate that BPCA wants to turn the Marina over to other operators, such as owners of the World Financial Center or mega yacht marina operators. “North Cove Marina Management has no problem competing against anyone to run the Marina – so long as the competition is fair and square," said NCMM.

Below is a video from Manhattan Community Board 1 from Battery Park tv about the situation.

Fellow Sailors, this is really serious! It’s another case of big money vs. people. Secret government vs. a great sailing school. We have just a couple of weeks to make our voices known. If you live in NY, please write or email your representatives and the Governor and join the committee at savenorthcove.com. Please help save Manhattan Sailing!
