Positive Outlook for Block Island Race Week’s 50th Anniversary

Block Island Race Week Principle Race Officer Dick Neville provides a weather outlook as well as insight into the up-coming days of racing.

It’s picture-perfect weather here on Block Island for the first day of Racing. Boats have made their way to the course and are preparing for the first round of starts. It looks like R/C will attempt to get off three races today.

More breeze is forecast for tomorrow (6/23) and it looks like it might be a good day to go around the island! Competitors should listen for Announcements (Broadcast on all Fleet VHF channels) and check the Official Race Notice Board to confirm.

LokiWednesday and Thursday look to be a bit lighter, but the R/C is hoping for the sea breeze to fill in and help out. Then Friday there’s more wind forecast, but it’s too early to give any prognosis on what will happen exactly, but in general the rest of the week should shape up nicely and allow R/C to continue sending off races for competitors.
