Nice job promoting SYRF [Sailing Yacht Research Foundation; Advancing the Science of Sailboat Racing, March 2013]. One point to bring out: the traditional source of technological advances has been the America’s Cup, but the recent shift in its focus to multihulls and winged sails has made its technology much less relevant to mainstream offshore sailing. Therefore SYRF’s mission to support the advance of science and technology in sailing is more important now than ever. Thanks again, nice piece.
