Rozalia Project Launches Mission Atlantic
Rozalia Project for a Clean Ocean launched their Mission Atlantic 2013 initiative at North Cove Marina in New York, NY in May, during the New York stopover of The Atlantic Cup presented by 11th Hour Racing. Rozalia Project, a Granville, VT-based non-profit organization with a mission “to find and remove marine debris, from the surface to the sea floor, through action, technology, outreach and research,” invites everyone – particularly educators – to sign on as “virtual crew” aboard their 60-foot research vessel American Promise.
When Brewer Yacht Haven, a full-service marina in Stamford, CT, closed suddenly in 2011, many boat owners in the region were forced to look elsewhere for service and winter storage. The owner of the 14-acre property off Bateman Way, a real estate development company called Building and Land Technology (BLT), subsequently announced a plan to develop the site as the headquarters of a hedge fund company called Bridgewater Capital.Read more
Yves Parent Paintings at Lyme Art Association
The Lyme Art Association in Old Lyme, CT will have paintings by the late Yves Parent on display and available for sale in their downstairs gallery starting June 21. “While many maritime art enthusiasts have been transported by Yves’ maritime paintings, they may not know of his considerable experience in offshore sailboat racing,” said Executive Director Susan Ballek. “He crewed aboard Kriter IX, the French entry in the 1981-1982 Whitbread ‘Round the World Race, as well as many offshore races between 1962 and 1980. He sailed in eight Fastnet Races and Single-handed Transatlantic Races which took him from France to the Caribbean in 1978 and 1982.”Read more
