Defender Launches the Electric ECO-Cruiser

Defender Industries has announced the launch of the electric powered Zodiac ECO-Cruiser. An 11’ 6” inflatable boat package designed for use on inland waters where gasoline outboard motors are prohibited, the package is also suitable for use in coastal salt water or as a harbor cruiser.

Using the Zodiac Classic MK1 inflatable as the base platform, Defender has added a Torqeedo Cruise 2.0R electric motor to create a safe, quiet, comfortable and environmentally friendly package. The cushioned bench seat houses two batteries to power the 24-volt motor, which delivers 110 pounds of thrust – approximately equivalent to a 6 horsepower gasoline-powered outboard engine. A Guest battery charger plugs into a 110-volt outlet for recharging.

On a full charge, the standard ECO-Cruiser package has enough battery life to power at half throttle for approximately four hours, and approximately 10 hours at trolling speed. Optional higher-capacity batteries can be substituted for the standard batteries for extended range/run-time.

The complete boat (with standard batteries) weighs 325 pounds, and the standard package is priced at $7,798. Options include fishing rod holders, battery powered navigation lights and an electric inflator.
